Thanks again for your advice, folks. I'm not as worried as I was. I'm still on my toes, but I'm not losing sleep over it like I did the first night. I know that even if it were a sting, the police and feds have bigger fish to fry than to come after little ol' me, especially since I have absolutely no criminal record, nor do I have (or have I EVER had) anything incriminating on my computer (e.g., child porn or things of that nature). So perhaps getting worked up wasn't necessary, but I certainly won't be doing this again.

Thanks again for the advice.

This is why this whole system is screwed up. People that are literally a day apart, and been in a loving relationship for quite a while, one could get arrested in someone founds out that one was 18 and the other was 17. That is an extreme example, but even if it is four months like this kid is saying, what a horrible stupid thing to lock people up for! We are ruining young kids lives! These laws need to be massively changed. There are real pedophiles in the world that need to be behind bars, at least until we figure out a way to cure (which we should be doing!), but things like this should never be an issue! Ridiculousness.

Why exactly did you resurrect a year-old thread?

Please don't do that.

C'mon Pro... you know why it was resurrected.

The poster searched for an answer to his own problem and decided to state that what HE did was actually just love. Child love, granted, but love.

Now, we all know that there are Romeo clauses that expressly address the situation the OP brought up... but that really isn't his problem, is it?

Short of a lobotomy or brain transplant (yes, I'm being facetious), there is NO cure. Once a pattern of paedophilia is established, it becomes too rooted into the offender's sexual psyche that it becomes the baseline for excitation and sexual gratification.

IOW, while there is a debate about whether paedophiles are "made" or "born" it is absolutely true that once a paedophile, it's a permanent state.

I realize that this is a dead thread, however, I do believe that his/her statement was a common fallacy that should be addressed.
