One last question.....It has a place to put what day the POA should expire. Does it have to expire in 6 mo. or can I put the childs 18th birthday as the day?

I'm going to meet Mom tomorrow to get the P.O.A. notarized. Does it matter where we do it? I was going to do it at a bank. Then do I have to file it with the juvenile court?

It doesn't matter which notary notarizes it. You can attempt to file it with the juvenile court. Some courts will take them from third parties (non-grandparents). Just make sure you have a certified copy of it.

Thank you. Is it something that has to be filed with the juvenile court or is it valid just being notarized? Sorry so many questions, but I'm ignorant about all of this and just don't want to screw it up.
