What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Pennsylvania.

What will likely happen regarding a summary offense?
In an incredibly stupid lapse of judgement,
I took $214 worth of stuff from a Kohls in Pennsylvania.

I am 17.
They agreed to let me off with a $149 summary offense so I wouldn't have to
a get a misdemeanor.

What other fees will I likely face? I am also expecting one from Kohls.

Tomorrow, I am going to get my retail theft fingerprints done. Then what?

I am attending a university in the fall, an above average student, and trying very hard to get a job.

You can pretty much forget a job in retail. Your information will be entered into a national database.

You can expect your parents to get a civil demand for a few hundred dollars. You should start saving whatever pennies you have.

Theft can affect a job in ANY field due to the fact that it goes to the trust and honesty of the employee. You will most likely receive community service and fines.

Try to get your record expunged.

The arrest and conviction will go on your juvenile record. It's not automatically sealed when you turn 18 unless you make the proper requests.

If the record is expunged, then it's like it never happened for the most part.
