What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Even though many said it could not be done because it was not "legal" for (at the time) fiance to get divorced quickly before deploying, his divorce was finalized about 2 weeks ago. His ex wife signed over sole physical and legal custody to him. With her only wanting visitation at his discretion.

She is also not wanting the child for the year that He is gone. We got married last week in Arkansas while he was on a 4 day R&R. I just wanted to share with all those who helped.. Even to those who tried to say I was lying that Oklahoma would not allow a quick divorce, for a deploying Soldier, involving children even if both parties agreed. Normally it is a 90 day wait period. However, for deploying soldiers as long as it is a non contested divorce they do it quickly. (Husbands took around 30 days)

Also the POA papers were filed with Oklahoma Child Custody papers and I was added to the Custody papers while my husband is gone. The Judge said he will review the order again in 1 year. So the Custody papers actually state that I have Custody (with my Husband) of his son. The Judge stated he did that so the childs mother would be able to go through me for her 6 months of supervised visits to reintroduce the child to her while my husband is deployed.

So that is my update =)

Good Luck

I did not know that step-parents could be put in a custody order. Now that I do I will have to do some research on that :)

Also, thank your husband for his service. Thank you as well for being a strong Military Wife keeping things together on the home front. Congratulations on your marriage

Forgive me for contradicting you but we do normally LIKE to get updates on what has actually happened.
Oh, absolutely, if the OP had been honest to start off with.... but an update from a liar who plays with socks? Totally worthless.

Sigh... I heart you Geekess. I had thought to say something of the sort, but more to the point that she apparently STILL doesn't understand what we beat our heads against the wall for what? 4 pages? to get her to understand and finally gave up. Sigh.

Nobody tried to get me to "understand" anything.. Many just wanted to sit back and call me a liar about what HIS lawyer had told us. Many just wanted to say "Oklahoma can not give a divorce in 30 days that involves a child even with a deploying Soldier"

I came to give my update that everything MANY said would not happen did happen. Some even stated that it was against OK law to remarry in a different state. The divorce papers clearly stated that He could not marry in Oklahoma for six months. Which we asked for verification from his lawyer about going to Arkansas to get married. Which is what we did.

LDiJ, Yes I came on here to give an update. Thanks for being respectful :)
