I currently live in NV, but am moving to CA in less than a week. i just recieved an MIC and am getting the case transferred to CA. I am 17. I was wondering if my license will be taken away even though i wasn't driving when i received this offense and what the other consequences may be.
and also, i dont think i can afford the $775 fine associated with this, will i be able to do community service instead?
please help me??

See an attorney. Your story doesn't add up.

I don't see now a Nevada criminal charge can be transferred to CA.

Nor do I see how you can do NV community service if you're living in CA.

I have never heard of such a thing.

Your attorney told you that this was going to happen? If not, then who told you?

As to your license, much depends upon where the case is heard.

You will not be getting the case transferred. It does not matter if you don't have the money for the citation. You better figure out how to earn it.

I think you misheard... and, even if you didn't, the officer does not have the authority to change the venue of your case.

The only thing I can possibly think of, that might have been misunderstood, was probation being transferred. That's if the courts grant it.

Well, suffice it to say, I've been running through courthouses since you've been... much younger than 17 and I've never heard of it.

You'll be sentenced in NV, but they may allow you to transfer your supervision to CA. You'll even be able to complete your community service in CA. - but we don't have the ability to prosecute other state's crimes. That's like your opthomologist doing thoracic surgery

The case will not be prosecuted in CA. But, if convicted (or subject to a "true finding") in NV then the supervision could be transfered to CA if mom and dad are moving here.
