I am a seventeen year old female from louisiana i have just turned seventeen i was taken by the state from my mother when i was only five years of age because of her drug addictions and financial problems my brother at the time was only four we moved from group home to foster care with a very kind lesbian and her other half (please dont be disciminative) we were in the process of adoption when we went for a family visit for christmas to my aunt and uncles my fathers sister and husband to make a long droning story short the visit became permanent what me and my younger brother thought was a real stable family was even worse for us in the long run our identification papers were lost in the move from foster care to temporary family placement we have no proof of who we are and my aunt and uncle had drug issues and my uncle made sexual jestures and hints towards me as well i became sick of it at stress reached its all time peek when i was sixteen mostly i was tired of pills being snorted were i ate money wasnt an issue in our family till the drug addictions played a bigger part in our family dwellings both parental figures with decent jobs but not enough to feed there habits i moved in with a friend and her family in a nice house and stable enviroment well to start off i have just turned seventeen as said before and have come to the realization that this family also has there problems and im looking for a more docile enviroment my parents have already allowed me to move out and i would like to get my own apartment soon i have a job but may have a few financial issues mostly because i donot have my own means of transportation and have to do most of everything myself is there anyway i can legally emancipate myself without going through the courts if i have parental consent ?What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

You can live where your legal guardian says you can live until you turn 18.

Who is your legal guardian?

The answer to your question is no. Unless you go through the courts, you are not legally emancipated. Period. End of story.
