What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NJ
The female is 14 and the male is 16. If they have sexual intercourse and she get pregnant can charges be pressed?
It is not statutory rape:
Statutory Rape Laws by State
"Aggravated sexual assault is sexual penetration with a victim under age 13.
Sexual assault is sexual penetration with a victim between age 13 and 16 when the actor is at least four years older."
There are exceptions:
Statutory Rape – New Jersey Sex Crime Attorney
"A second way it can occur is when the victim is at least 13-years-old, but under 16-years-old and one of the following circumstances is present: The adult is related to the victim by blood or affinity to the third degree; or The adult has supervisory or disciplinary power over the victim based on his legal, professional, or occupational relationship with the victim; or The adult is a resource family parent, a guardian, or stands in loco parentis within the household.
Penalties: 1st Degree Crime carrying 10-20 years in prison if convicted."
However, there are other charges that might be applicable. Not to mention that the two parents will be supporting a child for at least 18 more years - and this will greatly interfere with getting an education and establishing a career.
