I came here from India as a dependent to my spouse who is on student visa. He obviously has a heavy loan to repay.

My first question is, if we got married in India, can we still get a divorce here?

If I seek divorce will I get any alimony and child support (we have a 6 yr old daughter).

If I decide to go back to India with my daughter, can we continue to get the child support and alimony?

What kind of remuneration can I expect from my husband, given that he still has loads of student loan to repay?

Yes, you can divorce here.

You can, but how can he be working if he is on a student visa?

Where was your daughter born and how long have you and the child been in the US?

There is not enough information here to answer that question.

He's just finishing his course, and will start working on opt. Eventually, I'm hoping he'll get his H1.

My daughter was born in India, and it has been only a few months since we've moved here.
If you are here on a visa as your husband's dependent then if you get divorced you would have to return to India. I do not know if your child would have to also return.

You really need a consult with an immigration attorney.
