My mom bought me a mobile home as a Christmas present three years ago and now she is threatening to repossess it if I allow my long-distance girlfriend to move in with me.
My girlfriend is drug-free and sweet as can be but my family is still opposed to her moving in.
The title for the mobile home I live in has my name and my brother's name on it only. He is adamantly opposed to my girlfriend moving in even though he doesn't know her.

My sister-in-law is a lawyer and is taking the side of my mom and brother. I'm afraid that if I do move my girlfriend in with me, my sister-in-law will help my mom file a case against me.

I'm 34 years old and I'm tired of my mom and brother controlling my life.

It would be nice but I am on a fixed income due to severe emotional & physical disabilities. My family knows this and they seem intent on controlling me till the day I die....

You own half of the mobile home

Your brother owns half.

Mom owns NONE

Your mom can't repossess anything. She doesn't own anything.

Your brother can't repossess anything. He can't evict you OR your gal.

Move your gal in and tell your mom to butt out. Offer to buy your brothers half. Or tell him to stick it - because there is nothing he can do just because he owns half the trailer you live in.

He can't stop you from having a live in girlfriend. It is your domicile, and you own it.

Well this definitely sounds like a topic for a different messageboard but did you ever stop to consider that maybe their objection is out of genuine concern for you. When you say long distance girlfriend...is this someone you met locally and she moved away or someone you met online?

I say long distance but she really lives about 10 miles away. I don't drive and she lives with her abusive ex. I probably should've rephrased it as "open ended relationship".

She is a sweet, loving girl. My family is basing their concerns on friends I had when I was a teenager who were indeed bad news.
