(And not every restraining order will appear in every background check. In fact, most civil restraining orders won't prevent the average citizen from obtaining employment OR being able to obtain a license to carry)

But since you did mention it, this is why adults shouldn't mess around with MINORS.

Yes, there needs to evidence of contact - but not a threat, as is generally necessary for an RO between two adults.

It doesn't matter. If they don't want the 20 year old around their minor child, they can get a restraining order, for no reason at all.

Personally I would not do that unless I had told the 20 year old to stay away, and the 20 year old did not, but they CAN do that.

If you have evidence that an adult took a child out of school without permission, I would file charges against the adult.

If a 20 year old were sniffing around my child, I'd put a stop to it. Admittedly, I'd tell him to get lost first, but if he chooses to continue to hang around after I told him to get lost, it's his own choice to have a RO on his record.

Depends on the state rules. In addition, some states have a 'no contact order' which is different than a restraining order.

Bottom line, though, is that, as a parent, you have the absolute right to determine who can spend time with your child. If you don't like someone because he wears a blue shirt and you only like green, you can bar him from spending time with your child.

It MAY be necessary for you to ask him to stay away first and have him ignore your request in order to get an order in some places, i'm not sure. But, ultimately, if you don't like someone for any reason, you can keep them away from your minor child.

For what it is worth, all schools maintain a pretty detailed caller id log... so that they can catch just this type of behavior (along with bomb threats and terroristic warnings).

A man that is stupid enough to pretend to be dad to get his little girl friend to skip school is probably too stupid to spoof his cell phone number.

Pretty easy to trace, actually.
