What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California

I am working on tax return for 2010 with efile now.
It shows I will get refund from federal $ 444.00.
However, I doubt that it is right, because simply nobody holds tax for me.
I played with 4 different company, but the result is exactly same.

I made only $1500 that is treated self-employment. (nobody take tax from the cheks) Other income is interest which is about $1100.
I received alimony.
I paid personal property tax, but standard deduction is higher than itimized one.
I claim 2 children as dependents, Earned Income Credit and Making work pay.
My status is Head of Household.

Do you think it possibly happen? Or it is obviously wrong?

I would like to make sure that I don't make any mistakes before send to IRS.

Thank you for your help in advance.

how come your first post says you made 1500, and interest of 1,100.... and your "copy" of the efile, has your income at 11,518?????????????????

It is because of alimony I received (I mentioned it on my original post) which is just less than 9000. I think that's why $11518 comes in total income on efile summary I copied.

alright, well if you only earned 1,500 then your eic is going to be low.

Maybe you might want to try it with h and r block online... if everything comes out the same, then it is what it is... 444 in return is better then owing 444

yes it does actually happen.

Thank you very much for your help and time.
I checked the table you pasted.
As calculation it does make sense, however as my sense I still feel like steeling money, how I can get refund even I don't pay tax ?!

But if this is what it is according IRS rules and calculation, that's what I should do.

I appreciate a lot for everybody replied to my post.

Yes, actually the summary I copied was H&R Block. (But free efile version)
I feel more confident now since you suggested H&R Block.

Thank you very much again !
I appreciate you.

Actually I am very happy to get extra money ;), Of course !
I was just afraid that IRS comes to me later to demend for repayment plus penalties.

I feel much better now to file this to IRS now.
Thanks for all of you to help me out.

Your return is definitely accurate. You are receiving a refund because your refundable credits (EIC and Making work pay credit) are greater than your self employment taxes.

Just remember that money comes from somewhere.

Every dollar YOU get came from someone else paying THEIR taxes.

Little fact for you... 47% of the people in this country don't pay any tax...

Welcome to that club.
