If she gets married, she's effectively emancipated.
I don't think it's automatic in AL. I think that they still have to apply for emancipation - and the court has to determine that it's in the child's best interests:
Alabama Emancipation of Minor Law - Emancipation - Minors

If Dad no longer wishes to hassle with this daughter, then he should sign the paper. She'll soon learn the cold hard facts of life, especially when she finds out that Dad's wallet is not available anymore.
That's certainly one option for Dad.

Once again, it is not your issue. YOU are not involved[QUOTE

I know it's not my issue. I've clearly asked on behalf of my husband who is on the road and has no access to a computer and I've tried scheduling an appointment for HIM with his attorney.

I told him that I know she's not my child and I have no say, but I just hate the idea of letting a 17 year old KID make this decision for her life and the adults just throwing up their hands and giving up. She is really a smart kid and has a lot of potential when she's not being boy crazy. Her mother said that she thinks she'll just end up divorced because she'll pull the same kind of crap with her husband the first time things don't go her way. I just wanted so much for her life to see her end of this way.

Oh well. She'll learn or not.

Well the attorney just called me and apologized for not calling me back yesterday and confirmed my husband's appointment for Friday. I told him about the paperwork. He said that if my husband is ok with signing and letting her get married that she will be emancipated at the time of her marriage and that my husband can "wash his hands of this whole thing".

I still think it's a bad decision but as you have all pointed out, she has to learn to sleep in the bed she makes.

And the saga continues. THe other attorney filed a motion to continue so it was continued until November 2. HOWEVER: my husband had received an AT&T cell phone bill. Now we DO have an AT&T account with 2 phones on it, but both phones have MS numbers. This account was new with 4 Alabama numbers. So he went to AT&T to find out what the deal was and someone had gone to Walmart and opened an account in my husband's name, and had added 4 more lines since he got the bill making a total of 8 lines all being to I-phones. So he went to the Walmart where the account all happened.

Guess who opened the accounts?
