What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? florida

My daughter is 21 and just moved back in with me. She has a 2 yr.old son.
She and her husband ( he is in the Army) were stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC.
Last week he physically abused her in front of their son. He was detained by the MP's and was released in just a few hours. I drove to get her and my grandson. She was a stay at home mom and he offered no help to her finacially. She has no access to his bank account. He has offered no money.
We are needing some legal advice on divorce and custody. The army is a joke. They have offered no help to my daughter and they intend on sweeping this under the rug. She needs some help. She is very scared of him. I cannot afford the large retainer fees attorneys are asking for. If anyone knows of any attorney that might help her in Northwest Florida, please let me know.

This is not an attorney referral board.

1.) Your daughter needs to get empowered and seek the help from the organizations that aid army wives and those suffering domestic violence. There are many such organizations. Look in the phone book.

2.) I assure you the army is not going to sweep it under the rug. Your daughter need to work the chain of command. Her husband has obligations to her even if the are estranged, especially if it is because he is abusing her.

Agree. Get her in touch with a domestic violence hotline.

Then call the Base commander and explain that hubby is not supporting his family.
