What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? TEXAS

Can the Judge order jail time for attorney fees? I'm in Texas
If you are going through a divorce and have temporary orders that you have adhered to (you owe your spouse no monies and you owe no child support-all paid in full and current) can the judge order jail time if you fail to pay sanctioned attorney fees against you? The amount is $1000 to spouse attorney and $4000 to an independent attorney assigned by the judge. If I don't pay these fees (simply don't have the money) what is the worse case scenario (more sanctions and more fees, judgment, jail time)? Also, can I file bankruptcy and include these fees?

He can hold you in jail until you pay. At some point, he has to get a review as the civil hold changes to criminal over time. BK can usually get rid of judgments. Are you going BK over $5K?

yes, I don't have 5k, I only make 16 per hour and after child support I can barely make it but I'm good. Just don't have those fees.

So you are saying that the Judge can hold you in jail until the attorney fees are paid? How long?

They don't get rid of court orders however. So he may not be able to discharge the order to pay depending on how it is written.

A man was recently released from prison after spending 14 years there for contempt of court.

The 3 million dollars that forensic accountants couldn' find and the court thought he was hiding has never been found.
