Interesting details on CA sex with minors laws:
California - Age of Consent

Look at the statistics. It absolutely amazes me, for example that "Men over 25 account for twice as many teen births as boys under 18 years old." That floors me.

It also interests me that CA with its general liberal attitudes appears to have reasonably restrictive laws on sex with minors.

If the father were to call the police on this guy, wouldn't his daughter also face the same consequences since he is also below the age of consent?

Guys, I watched the major changes in my daughter between 15 and 17... there was a HUGE increase in maturity and decision making.
I would argue that with women, it stops increasing at 17.

Regardless, you missed the point entirely about the WHYs involved of a 15 year old girl and 17 year old boy who likely go to the same school. I'm not so old as to not remember being in high school. It wasn't common to see people 2 years apart dating but not uncommon to the point where people made a huge deal about it.

Have you considered therapy to find out why you are attracted to children?
I don't find attraction between two people with a two year gap in age to be extreme or unnatural among teens. 14 and 16. 15 and 17. 16 and 18. I don't approve of teenage sex, as much because of the possible harm to the teens if they become pregnant and the emotional fallout of discovering they had relations they thought was "the one" that wasn't, as because of biblical or legal principles. And I think people should be educated and obey the laws in whatever state they may reside.

But unnatural? Kids dating their classmates in highschool is pretty natural. Freshman with seniors was not common, but wasn't shocking either back in my day and things seem a whole lot more liberal now than back in my day.

This case sounds like a sophomore with a senior. Not shocking at all. Pretty natural, if you ask me. But as to the sex... abstinence is my advice no matter what state the parties reside in at the moment.

And as to Dad's reaction, OP here can't control that (well he could have, past tense but at this point the damage is done) and he should be concerned.

While possible, it is unlikely.

Typically, the OLDER of the two parties is charged, or the male ... there's an old school of thought concerning the latter, but it is more sexist than legal.

I doubt the girl will be charged.

well a few months ago we were caught having sex in her room and so he hasnt liked me since and the rest of her family is fine with me but her dad and he keeps threatening to file a restraining order on me as soon as i turn 18
And you're still alive?

Seriously, you could end up on the sex offender registry for the rest of your life. Lots of people have ended up on the registry due to the efforts of ticked off parents of underaged girlfriends (or boyfriends!).

I suggest you stop having sex and treat her like gold.

As a note, this offense would not be subject to registration in California.

However, if the OP moves to another state that does require registration for convictions of this nature, then he just might end up on a registry.

My senior is dating a sophomore. Dating is one thing - having sex is another.
Our Homecoming dance is about to have a bunch of Senior-Sophomore, and Senior-Freshman pairings ... for the dance.

It was the same thing when I was a kid back in the dark ages. So it will be when my kids are old as well.
