What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New York
I have a fifteen year old daughter who lives with another daughter and me in our home in NYS. In the beginning of 2011 she became involved in internet chat rooms that she explained was dirty talking with adults. I have also discovered that she has made her way through pornographic sites and I suspect (though she denies) that she has emailed naked pictures of herself. All of this has taken place on her laptop, in our home. Currently she is receiving therapy and at this time has no access to the Internet within our home. My question is ~ as owner of the house, if this takes place again while she is a minor in our house, do I have any criminal liability?

Where's her other parent? 'Cause if it were my daughter and I found out she was doing this at her other parent's home? I'd try for a change of custody.

Also - what have you done to curb this behavior?

Yes. Stop allowing your minor child to be a ...pig.

YOU will beheld liable.

its my understanding, if NO other people actually claim/prove injury or damages from the daughters internet use, how can there be strict liability?

But if, someone does claim/prove injury or damage then this mother may be found liable.

having said that, the state may claim/prove that the mothers own daughter was in fact damaged by this mothers omission to supervise her daughters internet or even cell phone use. (the state could possibility obtain custody of the daughter).

see:

In law, strict liability is a standard for liability which may exist in either a criminal or civil context. A rule specifying strict liability makes a person legally responsible for the damage and loss caused by his or her acts and omissions regardless of culpability. Strict liability is prominent in tort law (especially product liability), corporations law, and criminal law
