I go to beauty school and Im 19. They called my parents and told them I was absent. They handed out a piece of paper in the beginning of the year to add anyone's name who should be aloud to call and get information about me, I didnt add any name or hand it in. Can they call my parents and tell them I was absent without my permission? Do i have grounds to sue for disclosing information?

If this is a for profit beauty school, it may not operate under FERPA, which is the privacy act for education. If they are a public school, however, they had no right to contact your parents.

How did they get your parent's number?

This is probably not a lawsuit type of offense. You really didn't sustain any monetary "damages."

and OHRoadwarrior, what you said was just plain dumb, and doesn't pertain to Ed Law AT ALL. If you can't withhold your comments on the Ed Law board about how people should grow up, or that their parents won't give them money, which has NOTHING to do with the question asked, then just go away. You aren't adding ANYTHING of value to this board by adding your jaded commentary.

I honestly had no idea that there were public beauty schools. Apparently, there are! Lots of community colleges have programs. You rule. :)

I'd bet that OP lives at home. The school called to find out why she'd missed the day, one of the parents answered the phone and asked if s/he could take a message. And there we are.

I think you hit the nail on the head, stealth2. The OP's childish response to being "found out" would seem to confirm it.
