Hello, I live in Kansas City, MO, and I was wondering if anyone reading this might be able to shed some light on whether or not it might possible for me to get emancipated from my father (with which whom I live, but we stay at someone else's house (Which gives me a stable housing accomodations if I do get emancipated because we have already discussed that I could stay with them)).

I am only 15 years old, but I turn 16 in just over a week. My father is about to get kicked out of the place we are staying, but I don't want to go and am fed up with the way he treats me. He is not physically abusive, but is very mentally and emotionally abusive. My little sister was taken away from him about 2 years ago, but they gave me the choice to go or stay with him, and I chose to stay with him at that time. Since then I have regretted that decision.

The most recent thing that has pushed me to the point of wanting to get emancipated is that he left Wednesday, October 12th, 2011 late at night, and did not try to contact me or the owner of the house ( we can call him Abe, to save time) until the next Thursday (the 20th) and said he was supposedly going to go help someone move, and wouldn't be back until at least the 22nd, and admitted to Abe that he had been smoking Meth. We still have yet to hear from him.
I would love it if someone could advise me.

Thank you for taking the time to read all this. I know it is very long and I very easily could have missed something important. If you would like any more info please let me know, thanks. I Am very appreciative and grateful to those of you who took the time to read this :)

Nope. You're not going to get emancipated. You're too young and you're not able to fully support yourself.

Now, if 'Abe' is willing and your parents agree, they can give him custody or guardianship. But until then, you go where your parents tell you to go.

Where is Mom?

No.

You are going to receive the same answer every other child of your age receives. The law is not structured to allow you to make decisions of that caliber. I suggest you search emancipation and read the multitude of threads on the subject.

no way, you are more likely to go to a foster home,. or teenage home for teenagers then being emancipated at that age.

I should really ask the admins to make this a sticky since I have to type it so often:

Emancipation is not and never was intended to be a means by which a minor can leave home. It was and is intended to be a means to provide legal protections to those minors who, for reasons outside their own control, found themselves living on their own.

If you are unable to support yourself the help of someone else, (and that means being able to show a budget wherein you are able to provide every single penny of what it cost to support you) NO reason is good enough for you to be emancipated.
