Confused and Need IMMEDIATE help

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? GA

I filed for divorce from my wife. We have not done mediation yet and there has been no agreements made or anything. Today she gives me a copy of an Order Rule Nisi that says we have to be in court in 3 weeks. What is this for? What should I expect, what should I be prepared for?

Not sure what immediate help is going to do for you; it's Friday evening most places and no matter what, you can't do anything about anything tonight.

The rule nisi is basically an "order to show cause".

Then, the Affidavit is signed by the spouse who has filed for the action, and it may ask the court to grant various types of temporary relief. These documents are then given to the other party involved, and served as divorce or legal separation papers. Then, the rest of the procedure (such as waiting periods, percentage of salary for child support, etc.) will depend on the state or county in which the documents are being filed.

Your best bet if you don't understand is to either do whatever it takes to get an attorney, or start educating yourself. You'll need to understand how the court works and what is expected of you if you're representing yourself.

In addition, read any documents you receive as carefully as you can. The document probably says something about what she's alleging.
