My son is in Department of juvenile justice he comitted battery and violated his deferred program and the judge sent him off. The probation office recommended probation. He is on lockdown and sleeping on the floor they said he was so messed up when he got there that he could not stand. He has panick attacks very severe ones and we expected the judge to put him on regular probation. He sent him off! They refuse to give him the medication for the severe panic attacks. It is xanax .5 mg. Is there anything I can do? He is not a threat. He has not threatened suicide and was in a bad car accident almost a month before his incarceration in which he has some back injury from. I want him given the proper treatment and care do I need a lawyer what can I do??

Have your sons doctor contact the DJJ and apprise them of his medical condition.
I would also be concerned about why my son would, knowingly, violate his probation. I fail to see your surprise with;

What? You expected the judge to give him a double-probation? He was already given a chance to not goto jail... he failed. Maybe this will help him to see that 'battery' is not the choice to make next time.

It was a youth program and the violation was not attending the classes ordered. The major problem is him not having a bed and not getting medical attention or medicine that he needs. I feel that his punishment is ok. I just want him treated properly.

It is fairly common for medical in institutions- jail, juvy etc- to take a prisoner off their meds to observe them in a controlled environment. Many people come to jail way overmedicated.

Your family doctor is welcome to contact them, but without a ROI they will likely not share any information with him.

You send them to summer camp.
When you fail to meet what ever the needs of the particular child are and they become embroiled in the legal system, they go to kiddie jail, not summer camp.

I'm fully aware that it's not summer camp!! The problem is the way they sentence everyone else is not what happened this day!! He violated a juvenile deferral program and was told by everyone if they did they would get probation through DJJ. The probation officer recommended "PROBATION". He even said today that "HE GOT SHAFTED". He went on to say they were astonished that he sent him away!! There was no public defender and even the State's Attorney said there is a due process!! It's not how they sentence everyone else. I think I understand that HE'S NOT IN KIDDY CAMP!!! The fact is that the justice system just slammed him into a program!!! Where he is not getting the medical attention he needs!! I don't know why I'm surprised anymore due to the fact anymore it's he that has the most money wins!!!

So we pulled off a sentence reduction and the Judge suspended the sentence and released him and gave him one last chance. He is out and free and never wants no more trouble. I did a bunch of study and quick manuvering. pulling lawyers and in between his probation officer.

Great. Another juvenile thug with parents who don't hold him responsible for his choices. Hopefully the judge will finally get serious next time. And I have no doubt that there will be a next time.

As a mentor to disabled teens who run afoul of the laws and enter the department of juvenile justice system, I am glad your son is getting the help he needs.

However, you need to help him learn to follow the laws within his disability knowledge, skills, and ability level. He has to be able to do this on his own or else he will keep finding himself on the bench in front of a judge in the future.

The disabled teens who successfully meet the terms of their "deferment" are often able to distinguish between "mom's rules" and real life rules after a stay within the department of juvenile justice facilities.

To those of you who were negative about this you need to know all the facts of the case first. Yes I pulled a bunch of last minute manuvering but the fact is he deserved a chance. I don't believe one battery charge and a violoation of a deferral program by failing to meet kerfew requirements desrves a year in a program in St. Petersburg.
