What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? ky

So without turning this into a 5 page ordeal like my last post...

My school 'published' my number, friend's number, 'lost' cell phone number on the school's website, asking for details.
Now my phone is so full of (supportive/hilarious/some weird) texts...lol, o.k, we gave them our numbers so, whatever... - I don't know what their plan was cos people we know are just like 'ain't telling'.

But on the website they say the numbers are in relation to this little investigation into "criminal interference with school security cameras".

Are there actually laws about this? Would it be written with some other legal terms? I sought but I could not find.

How did you screw with the cameras?

If you tapped into the system to interfere with the cameras or in any way damaged them, it is almost certainly a crime. If you covered the cameras, that might be a crime (and I am not going to search your state and local statutes to find out).

And if a crime was committed, then the police can track those numbers down if they are inclined to do so.

Hey, you wanted attention and notoriety - now you're getting it. Oh, and you may think your pals ain't talking, but I guarantee you that not everyone is impressed by you and that eventually someone will spill the beans if the administration presses the issue. High schools or notorious for not keeping secrets. If two people know about something, more will know in short order. Someone WILL say something. What the administration might do about it is a question we cannot answer.

Any person who willfully and maliciously prevents, obstructs or delays the sending, transmission, conveyance or delivery in this state of any message, communication or report through any telegraph or telephone line, wire or cable shall be fined not less than fifty dollars ($50) nor more than five hundred dollars ($500), or imprisoned for not more than one (1) year, or both.

No electronic interference, no tapping into systems. We covered the lens of one for like 5 minutes while we were hanging around in front of it planting the phone. And then removed it again. So no damage to the camera and no interference with electronic transmission. We just blocked it's vision.
