What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Calif.

Not sure if this is where I ask this question, sorry if its not.

Begining of the year I hired a lawyer for child support help, since then I have paid him 2k. First 1k when I hired him and the other 1k about half ways through. Now that everything is done I have a 3k bill I need to pay.

My problem is I dont have 3k to pay him off. I looked into a loan but I have to much open credit. At this time I only have $500 to give and can pay $200 a month till I get my tax return. He is on vacation at the time so I havent talked to him about this yet. I have never had a lawyer before so I dont know how paying one works? I feel bad cause he did a great job and Id like to give him his money, but like I said I dont have it at this time.

Can someone please tell me how this works?

Thank you.

You call his office and set up payment arrangements to pay his bill.

I would just send him the 500.00 you have now and the 200.00 a month until you get your tax check. Tax season is not that far off. Send a note with the payment explaining that you will be paying him off with your tax check. Again, its so close to tax season that he is unlikely to be upset about that.
