What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CO

I am a member of a debate board, and today the subject was about masturbation. A parent responded that if she ever caught her child doing that she would kick them out. Alot of people responded that a child may begin doing that as young as 11 or 12 years old, she said she didn't care, it is her house, her rules, and it didn't matter how old they were she would kick them out. We responded that we didn't think it was legal to kick your underage child out.

I don't know what state she is in, so I was hoping to find a website giving each states laws about kicking your child out. Are there any states where it is legal to kick them out? Does anybody have a website where I can see the laws?

I know

I know google is my friend, I have been searching for about an hour and can only find that parents are responsible if their child causes property damage. No matter how I have worded my search it always brought up this website so I thought I would try it.

There are dozens of laws covering child neglect and abandonment. In each of our 50 states. There is NO WAY anyone of the volunteers are going to hunt down that information for you.

And this is a what if situation? Pbbbfffttt!!! Good luck with that.

There would be a lot of kids living on the streets lol ! You cannot kick your kid out for masturbating ... or by breaking any house rule.

There are others, but this one sort of covers it all:

18-6-401. Child abuse.

(1) (a) A person commits child abuse if such person causes an injury to a child's life or health, or permits a child to be unreasonably placed in a situation that poses a threat of injury to the child's life or health, or engages in a continued pattern of conduct that results in malnourishment, lack of proper medical care, cruel punishment, mistreatment, or an accumulation of injuries that ultimately results in the death of a child or serious bodily injury to a child.

I'm not going to search out the laws of all fifty states. I'm a volunteer here and I don't have that kind of time.

I can, however, tell you that regardless of what state she's in, it is in no way legal for her to "kick out" her minor child unless she makes other provisions first. Wants to send the kid to live with grandma? Fine, if grandma agrees. Send the kid to boarding school? No problem, just write the tuition check and wait for the next term to start. But just kick the kid out into the street on his or her own without any means of support or shelter? Not anywhere in the US if the child is under 18 (and in some states it could be older). Not unless she wants the Child Protective Service and the police, not necessarily in that order, falling on her from a great height.

What you don't understand is that this is a site where volunteers spend their own time and energy helping people who really need help. We're not here to do homework for kids.

And maybe you don't understand how Google works. No matter how you word your question, it brings up this site. ONLY this site? Maybe no one explained to you that when you search a question, there are hundreds, thousands, or millions of hits on Google. If the first one doesn't help, try the next one.

Even in a hypothetical situation, you make a false blanket statement. I must compliment your consistency!
