Can a CA court FORCE custody when it is not wanted?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Los Angeles, CA

Can a judge force a father to have spilt physical custody of his estranged children when the father does not want it. The father has paid, is willing to pay, and will continue to lend finanical support to the children but does not want physical custody.

Can he be forced?

But, to win, how about just telling the judge you need a little time to get over your selfishness and off the (drugs, alcohol, sex slaves, whatever) so maybe custody isn't in the child's best interests right now.

on this winner's other thread, he/she says it is for a friend. Dad is a pathetic individual who wants to pay mom to take the children in one large lump sum. I was actually thinking that OP is dad's new love who doesn't want the hangups of dealing with dad's baggage but just wants to be around dad now for whatever she can get.

Having seen more family and friends than I care to count struggle with conception and misscarriages for years it's saddening to see a parent who does not want to be a part of their child's life and thinks sending in a check is good enough. How selfish and pathetic.

I'm going to take a slightly different view. Having read countless stories of abused and neglected children (including many children murdered by their own parents), I'd much rather see someone who is not interested in being a parent let their child be adopted than hold onto the poor kid and ruin his life.

Of course, it would have been far better if he had taken the appropriate precautions BEFORE a child was conceived, but failing that, I'd rather see someone give their child to someone (like your friends, perhaps) who wants a child but can't give birth to one than holding on to it for selfish reasons.
