Hi there. Thanks for your help. We live in Minnesota. My boyfriend is going into court next week to file for joint custody of his kids. He and the kids mom were never married and there has never been a court ordered custody arrangement. She is threatening to take the kids to Illinois, which she has every right to do, because in MN, when the mother and father haven't been married and there is not court order, full custody automatically goes to the mom. (I'm sure you know that He can not afford an attorney and makes too much to get free legal help. When he goes to file, is there a document or something that states she can not take them out of the State of Minnesota while the custody case is going on? I wasn't able to find anything online. Thank you. What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
