What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? OR
Back in 2008 our neighbor split his lot.
This included the alley between us to be vacated where he took part of it to make the split work and gave a part to me. He subdivided and I was deeded the .04 of an acre (onto my 1.37 acre lot).
This gave our County Assessors Office a Constitutional obligation (as the guy at the county put it) to come out and reassess our land for $102,000 where that raised our taxes $1800 a month for the rest of our lives (over the last 4 years about $7,000). In Oregon taxes go up 3% a year unless you have an Exception (one of them being a lot partition or subdivision). Is there anything that refutes this Exception? Is there anything we can do?
Can we sue the County? Can we sue the State for undue process relating in unfair taxation practices. There is an appeal process but it doesn't work in this case.
