Hey OP, Could you perhaps just look for a lawyer that is in another part of Canada? I don't know if they are called provinces or territories or what but maybe put some distance between law firms. Many laws firms are connected in some way or another so distance may not be enough either GL.
As you've been told (repeatedly), stop offering advice over things you don't know anything about.

If you don't know if they're provinces or territories, then anything else you advise is worthless. And, like in the U.S., different provinces have different laws, so an attorney in a different part of Canada may be useless.

And even if the laws were exactly the same (which, of course, they are not), why would you want an attorney that had to travel a distance to appear in court and has no knowledge of the local judicial climate? The OP would be doing himself a great disservice by taking your ridiculous advice.

They're called provinces. But just as the law in New Hampshire is not necessarily the same as the law in Massachusetts, the law in Ontario is not necessarily the same as the law in Manitoba. Additionally, just as an attorney in New Hampshire could not practice in Massachusetts unless he held a Massachusetts license as well as a New Hampshire license, the same would be true in Canada.

We're also talking HUGE distances here. Ontario, where I used to live and which in terms of area ranks fourth out of ten provinces, is almost twice the size of Texas.

Hiring an attorney in a different city within the same province might be a possible answer, but even then the distance might be an issue.

Thanks to all who have contributed. As I suspected most likely I was refused service from the law firm was due to my wife using that firm earlier this year. I must say reading some of the comments made towards one another is quite entertaining if not educational.

You guys are great. I understand that the laws will differ from country to country and province to province. But I did figure I would be able to get some form of information or at least a good opinion about conflict of interest and even about possible defamation from this forum.

I did speak with the person today who works in the business that supposedly was completely unsettled and freaked out by what I said (according to my wife's email). That individual said that they weren't unsettled at all and had no clue about what my wife was reporting. They have absolutely no problem with me and these are just a part of almost every email I get from my wife where she goes overboard to make me look bad. My doctor who has been involved in the legal situation because I am disabled and he's had to submit medical reports to answer questions my wife has raised and has said that my wife has become neurotic.

But to answer a previous post about the defamation accusation coming as a result of a third party, the answer is yes. There was an employee who has since left the business who did overhear something and asked about what was discussed. That person is a friend of my wife's sibling and so it makes sense now how my wife heard about some of things discussed. My friend at the business really made light of the situation and figured that nothing could come of our discussion. I hope that individual is correct. I don't need any more legal headaches.

But again, I would like to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who's contributed to this post. I appreciate everything that's been shared.

I was not giving ADVICE, it was a suggestion

suggestion - An idea that is suggested
advice - A proposal for an appropriate course of action

It is up to the OP if he wishes to pursue someone in another part of Canada and Im quite sure he would know the difference between a territory or a province so It really doesn't matter. Get over yourself Mist for REal.
Maybe he is loaded and doesnt mind paying for travel and besides many attorneys in the US are Admitted to more than one State in the USA and have to know multiple laws for their practice. So your making no sense there.

You may be better than some of us on this site and I will say it again.

Death is the great equalizer of men. Good Day!

Actually, commentator said that anecdotal stories meant nothing.

And I will bring Jesus into it if I want. Because every time you post? He weeps.

No she said I was basically right about the rules and procedure but you close your eyes to that but that is ok because

"For if you forgive men for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you," (Matt. 6:14).
