What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Michigan
I paid for a high school post grad tuition for an 18 year old to study music at a private boarding school. He was only able to complete one quarter and was asked to withdraw because of an infraction with another student who also broke some boundary and curfew rules. I can understand not getting tuition back for the first semester but they will not give back the tuition for the second semester. Do I have any legal recourse?

You might have also had to officially withdraw him from the second semester, and if you didn't and they saved a place for him, then you may have had to pay the fee. justalayman is correct, your contract would have spelled all this out. If the school accepts students each semester, or only at the start of a year will make a big difference for your case.
