If you have unpaid medical bills (~30k), is it likely that the Hospital will sue you or more likely that it will just disrupt your credit?

30k is not going to go away. It's not a small amount (it is in the grand scheme of things, but that's another issue). I'd guess they'll try to collect, then they'll enlist one of the collection agencies that work for a company instead of buying the debt out right. Then you'll see the courts come in.
