As a passenger in a car, what can my son be charged with if they found, a police club, a pellet gun, and a marijuana pipe? None of these items were his, he was just a passenger.

It depends on many things. Examples would be the items location, statements made by others, officers observations and on and on...

If in a common area where he had equal access to them, just about anyone with such access could be charged.

Being charged is not the same as convicted. So, he might be charged but not convicted. It seems to me that he needs to find a better class of friends to avoid testing the theory on this one.

I have a rule ... (when I am off duty) if I get into a car and there are any police clubs, pellet guns, or marijuana pipes in the car, I immediately get out. It saves me a lot of trouble.

Bad choice

I agree and he is no longer assoiciating with these friends. Also being charged with these, none were in his possession, as they were not his. The marijuana pipe was under the drivers seat, the pellet gun and police pipe were in the front seat. I am just trying to understand what his role is as a passenger in the vehicle.

If he is formally charged, I would suggest that you get him an attorney.
