Hello:

I live in Canada and recently lost my father. I didn't know that he had a life insurance policy and I'm the beneficiary. However, my brother and sister are upset by this and I believe they will challenge the policy. Under what conditions can they do that?

**A: did your father live in the US and is the life insurance policy under US jurisdiction?

This forum is US law only. In the US if you are the named beneficiary, the ins. co. would pay the proceeds to you. You are entitled. There is nothing stopping anyone from contesting but they most likely would not win (unless it can be proven that Father was not competent when he named you bene or something of that sort).
