There is a 90% rule for attendance in public schools. You have to be in attendance 90% of the days, or you are not allowed credit. This is a state rule, not a school rule. Attendance at school is mandatory.

So, what you should be talking about with the school is a credit recovery or makeup time so that you can get your credit. You may also be able to do a credit appeal through the attendance office where your medical condition, and the fact you passed your classes, are taken into account, and you are granted credit.

You may also want to look at a homeschooling option, or a 504 for your medical condition, so that you can graduate on time.
This is not true for children with documented medical conditions and should be addressed through the IEP process. The school (knowing that he has a medical disability) is already in violation of the law for not offering these accomodations.

Because I am I would hate to have to repeat my sophomore year just because I have a medical condition that was caused by an idiot doctor.
So the increase in your intracranial pressure is an idiot doctor's fault?

Well, folks this one is about to go south quickly.

Well at first they offered something for me where I could go half the day every day and then the other half a tutor would teach me at home but I didn't want to do that and I have been going all day

One more (last) time. Have YOUR PARENTS discuss accommodations with the school.

Is there an online version for your schooling? I know that here in Florida, we have a virtual high school that is completely online. That could work around your schedule too.

My daughter can't fit in a foreign language (required) in her schedule so she will be taking that online.

So, the school offered to accommodate you, but you refused?

Here's the info on a 504. You would NOT qualify for an IEP.

Just because a child has a disability or impairment does not mean that he/she automatically qualifies for special education services under the IDEA. A child with a disability who does not need special education services will not qualify for special education and related services under the IDEA. He or she may however receive protections under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.

Eligibility for protections under Section 504 depends on the child in question having a physical or mental impairment which must substantially limit at least one major life activity. Major life activities include walking, seeing, hearing, speaking, breathing, learning, reading, writing, performing math calculations, working, caring for oneself, and performing manual tasks. As you see, many activities are included under this category. The question that must be addressed by the school's special education team is whether the child has an "impairment" that "substantially limits one or more major life activities."
IEP VS 504

. I can not help it what so ever and I have had it for About 3 months.
There are medicines for PTC, including Diamox or Lasix. If the meds don't work, they can do surgery to insert a shunt to release the pressure.

I had PTC 19 years ago, and it went away after a time on meds and weight loss. It's back now, even though I'm thin. Now it's controlled through Lasix.

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Arkansas

I have a medical condition called pseudo tumor cerebri which means false tumor. It gives you all the effects of a tumor. I am going to see a neurologist for this and have missed a lt of school. It is a very serious condition and my school has been great with handling it. But could they take my credit away from me if they wante to? I live in Arkansas by the way I didn't know if it mattered

Aso my doctor ha wrote them a letter and the hospital has sent them several notes. I am going to lebonheurs childrins hospital in Memphis, TNWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
I was thinking about your case, and wondering if you talked to the school?

I also wanted to point out, that from the school's (and ultimately the state's) perspective, you haven't earned the credit until you've been in attendance the proper amount of time to earn the credit. So, it's not that the school is TAKING your credit - you haven't EARNED the credit. You can appeal attendance issues through the school.

And I hope you get some help getting a 504. That would ultimately be the best for someone with your medical condition.

Hope to hear from you.
