I am sorry, my mistake. As you see this is my first post here and I am really not that familiar with posting in forums. In addition, I am the one that received the call from the ex wife, I spoke to my husband about this and now I am trying to figure out what needs to be done because I am implicated in this as much as he is. I apologize if I didn't post properly.

Contacting a local attorney would be great if he would be licensed to practice in both states. However, this is not something easy to find and I ran into the situation where I was told that as far as NY law is concerned they can't give me an answer.

If my husband has to post for himself, maybe I should post my own problem which is this:
I have a marriage certificate that might or might not be valid and the reasons for this are listed above. What am I supposed to do?
I have been honest and have posted as the wife. It would have been very easy to post as the husband. Can this be taken in consideration?

I am trying to figure out how much more ridiculous than this can it get. I am asking for advice, I am in the middle of a problem, I am posing as me and not him and you still believe that I should not get any answers.

The only explanation I have is that none of the people here can handle complicated questions so it is easier to just dodge the bullet and come up with an excuse.

You and/or hubby will want to find an attorney who can also research the matter as it pertains to the laws in the other state. In fact, you might just have to contact TWO attorneys.

Seriously, the matter is complex enough that it would be unwise to rely on an internet forum for advice.

The problem is that you don't have the facts - whether you call yourself the wife or the husband or Mickey Mouse.

For starters, is it a marriage certificate or a divorce certificate (in one place, you say 'marriage' and in another, you say 'divorce'). Plus, there are no reasons given above.

Have Hubby come here with a copy of his paperwork in hand and I'm sure someone will help.

(And, for the record, I can't imagine why a divorce would be valid in FL, but not in NY).

The problem is the names on the marriage and divorce certificates do not match. I don't see why that matters or why hubby would be relying on anything his ex is telling him.
