What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? new york i would like to know if my child is turning 21 and i havent recieved child support from his dad in 4 years and i started a support case but never got a order for support am i still entitled because child support sent me a letter saying that they were going to close the case becz my son is turning 21 but what about the last 4 years. can i pursue this and win or am i wasting my time and this deadbeat gets away?What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

If you never actually got a support order, then it really is too late to get one now.

And did you have a support order and it was terminated 4 years ago?

If you never got a court order for child support, then you can't pursue one now (since your child has reached majority).

You seem to have done just fine for the last 4 years without doing any follow-up on the existing request for child support. If you really needed that support, you would have pursued it sooner rather than waiting until now. Why did you wait so long?

obviously i was coherent enough for you to ask annoying questions. and no i did not get a support order becz taking off from work for all the times i needed to was not feasible. i am a single mom with other children. but if it is too late so be it we pay for our mistakes and it cost me four years of child support.
