What would be the quickest and easiest way to get a divorce (in NY State) from a man (from New Jersey) that committed bigamy and they have been separated for 24 years? She filled for divorce through the court before, but was unsuccessful because when the papers were served he had moved within the state of New Jersey. She has his new address and all of his personal information. Please let me know. Thanks!

If you are the second spouse, you are not legally married anyway. Explore divorce by publication if you want a judge to make it formal and cannot do so by traditional means.

Many thanks! How about if she is the first wife, would that change anything?

If she's the first wife she needs to get divorced the same way anyone else would. I would advise a lawyer.

Actually the second wife may still be married but able to void the marriage based on bigamy. The marriage may be voidable and not just void.
