What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NY

After my second divorce the divorce decree stated that I can go back to using my maiden name. I would like to be able to use the last name from my first marriage. Can a divorce decree be amended to include use of all previously used names?

Thank you.

You do not need to amend your divorce decree to change your own name. Name Change Forms & Requirements

Yes, I know that, thank you.

I want to know if I can avoid the procedure of going to Court, publishing name change etc. The divorce papers state that I can go back to using my maiden name. I believe that the law allows for going back to using any previously used names. Unfortunately my divorce papers only listed my maiden name and not my previous marriage name. If I could amend the divorce papers to add this, it would be much simpler, and less expensive too I believe.

Nope. The time to have that requirement was at the time of the final divorce decree. Why didn't you request it then?
