What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? AL

If my divorce agreement was signed on March 25, 2012 and there is a child support order in this agreement, when would the first support payment have been due and when would it be considered late?

Thank you for your time.

What does it say in the child support order? It should say something like "effective from xxx date until...".

It doesn't have an effective date. It says: pursuant to rule 32 of al rules of judicial admin, the plaintiff shall pay x amount per month as child support for minor children until they reach the age of majority.

Then it says the address to where it can be paid if there is a wage withholding, which there is not.

I have a hard time believing it says NOTHING about effective dates in the order.

However, if you happen to be correct, I can see that the NCP may be as confused as you are as to when that order is supposed to start. What does your attorney say about it?

So, there are different paragraphs throughout the divorce agreement, and I am reading the one about child support. It has no effective date whatsoever. A few other things say sign over any interest on some property within 30 days of signed by the judge decree, but this paragraph says nothing like that.

I do not have an attorney.

Thank you for your help though.

There is no withholding order. That stuff is just in the paragraph saying that if there were one, that would be the address and such.

Then I suppose you need to be finding out about how to submit a withholding order, hadn't you?

Or at the very least, contact your county DHR office and see if they can enforce your child support order since you don't know how to go about it.

Law schools usually offer clinics for free help, to train the law students.
Here's a link to UA's School of Law Clinics:

Samford University also has Cumberland School of Law:

Then, there's the Birmingham School of Law:

Here's a number for the Miles Law School; No information on their website if they offer clinics or such, but the worst they can do is tell you no.

You said it's been signed, but has the agreement been signed and entered into the docket by the judge?
