What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Indiana
Hi, Thank you in advance for your help. This is the situation. My girlfriend and I have been together for six years and we have decided to go our seperate ways. I am living in her house and am in the process of looking for a place I can afford because I'm disabled. My question is do I have any rights as far as how long before I have to move, such as 30 days or can I be forced to move out right away. Thank you for your help.

I appreciate your response, but I really don't understand my rights as a month to month tenant. Do I have to be given notice in writing and how long do I have before I have to vacate? Thank you.

You could be stubborn and force her to actually go through the legal process of evicting you, but I really don't recommend taking it that far, as that can result in a very strained living situation and that could produce bad results.

However, she has to give you 30 days notice as a month to month tenant. I would not recommend insisting that it be in writing.

You've posted about being a landlord in the past. I would expect that you would understand tenant's rights.
