The result of which would be the audio of the movie being uploaded, not the video. So say you have a 60 minute movie and you upload 30 x 2 minutes.

I think I read somewhere that doing short parts is legal. If that is true, what about many short parts. A legal grey area for movie audio?

Thank you

It's not really a legal grey area. You're not allowed to steal the movie in whole or in part. Small clips for review purposes are OK, but making things like ring tones or libraries of PC sounds are clearly infringing. If the copyright holder wants to push the issue, you're site will go poof in short order and you may be subject to additional damages.

Depends on whether the video is copyrighted or not. If there is no copyright knock yourself out.
so, you are saying that the fact any video currently produced has a copyright simply by virtue of it being created would somehow not be applicable?

A copyright is a statutory right bestowed upon a creation at the time of creation. They do not have to be registered for them to be a right. Yes, registering does provide benefits but registering is not what creates the copyright. Creation is what creates it.

To reiterate what Just says, anything created since 1923 that hasn't been explicitly dedicated or otherwise determined to be in the public domain has to be assumed to be still protected by copyright. Since the US adopted Berne in 1988, you don't have to DO anything to obtain copyright. No registration, nor marking, nor ANYTHING needs to be done for copyright protection.
