The real problem is that the gas company did not notify anyone they were going to do this....the admitted to not telling anyone yesterday

That is not the real problem. Why are you focusing on it? Let's assume they HAD told you - what would change?


What do you wish to accomplish?

Then you really need to be talking to the agency(s) that regulate utilities in your county (or perhaps state), because I honestly don't believe that a utility company can arbitrarily do that.

Service was stopped. There was no account. The utility company had nobody to notify, they simply retrieved their own property.

I am curious as to what the OP wishes to accomplish. Does the OP want service reinstated? Or, does the OP simply wish to punish the utility?

As to getting them to restore service to the house if you have to then get help from a consumer advocate if you must to learn more about WHY they wont. And if they wont , heck with them and explore conversion to propane.
