If it goes to court, ask for co-parenting counseling; you BOTH need it. This is a control game.

What needs to happen at this point is to COMMUNICATE with mom over the issue. Either agree with a decision before hand, or plan on going to court.

Or ask for a parenting coordinator who will have final say so.

How can a vaccination cause birth defects if the person receiving it is not pregnant at the time?

The CDC recommends that all children receive the HPV vaccine at age 11-12. That would qualify as the "recommendation of a healthcare professional". If you are supposed to follow those recommendations, then you are most definitely in contempt.

The vaccine has in fact been out of clinical trials for several years, and the trials themselves were years long - that constitutes "long term studies". I participated in one of these trials and was followed for about 5 or 6 years.

Getting this vaccine is absolutely NOT a reason that anyone would think it was ok to not protect themselves against STDs in other ways.

HPV. Not HOV.

I think you need to re-read what I posted. You are telling your CHILDREN which vaccines are important and which are not.

Again I ask, what gives YOU the right to unilaterally decide that?

Frankly you're both at fault. This isn't about the kids' welfare. This is a power play.
Typo with the HOV.. It is not a power play on my part.. I stopped the vaccination from occuring due to my 16 year old texting me. I then had the opportunity to research what it was and the side effects. My son has extreme allergies and one of the side effects are "allergic reaction, including difficulty breathing, wheezing, an unusual skin rash, itching, or hives". Would you give your child this shot? Also, considering that your child is extremely allergic to almost everything (especially animals), their mother has 6 cats, just got to more puppies because her other ones past away, 2 rats, and 1 gerbil. (Yup thats a loving, sane, rational and caring mother)

I would indeed give my children this shot as scheduled. Have either of them had a severe reaction to ANY other vaccination they have received?

So, they have just figured out that certain vaccinations and certain drugs have been causing autism with children and those drugs have been out for longer than just 2 years and out of clinical trials for longer than 20 years and they are JUST NOW coming to this conclusion. Also, the CDC is a health care organization (HCO) and not a health care professional (HCP)..

I am under the assumption that you feel it is OK that she took them without consulting me, am I correct?

I do not believe that you would put your child in a situation where they could have a potential life threatening reaction and if you would then you probably do not even have kids or your just like my ex.. you would keep your Extremely allergic child in a room with 10 animals.

ACTUALLY it has never been confirmed that vaccinations "cause" autism. But good try.

Vaccines do NOT cause autism. Many studies have been performed and not a single one has found ANY conclusive link between the two. There is ZERO scientific evidence vaccines cause autism. You have just discredited any claim that you are a scientist or work in clinical trials. Maybe you work for a pharmaceutical company (though I doubt it) but that doesn't mean you know anything about what they do.

Your childrens' doctor clearly recommends that they receive the vaccine as well. Which means that your divorce decree says you have to do what their doctor recommends. You don't appear to have any VALID reason for objecting other than wanting to exert control over the children and mom. I think it was wrong (according to your court order) for you to refuse the vaccine in the first place, so it was right for mom to correct your mistake and get them the shot.

All you have been is rude and not helpful.. you are playing some sick game of devils advocate or something. Is it so hard for you to have a concise answer?

In fact, it's been decried SEVERAL times by many sources.

And before OP starts with the "They're all in bed together" consipracy theories, many (if not most, actually) of these sources are outside of the US and have nothing to do with the FDA.

Unless of course every single pharmaceutical and/or research and/or CRO are all connected à la The Illuminati.

Dad, we understand that you're pissed at Mom. We get that. But seriously - check yourself.

OG is actually an attorney.

I suggest you pay for your own attorney if you're not happy with the responses you've received here.

She did not get them the shot and you are correct, so far no studies have confirmed this, so I jumped the gun with my person assumptions. The Dr DID NOT recommend the vaccination, she called up and asked for it.

I don't have children yet but I AM an educated person and I will be a nurse in another year and I have actually READ the research involved. I wrote a paper on vaccinations last spring.

Your children could have a life threatening reaction to ANYTHING. Does that mean you make them live in a bubble with no contact with the outside world? Even if they DID have a reaction to the shot, most likely you would give them some Benadryl and they would be fine. And if they've never had an anaphalactic reaction to any vaccination they've gotten before, the chances of THIS one causing it are even more miniscule. Your objections are not rational and doctor's recommendations should overrule you. This is your court order. Follow it.

Again.. the doctor DID NOT recommend this

$50 says if you ask the doc, the doc will say "I recommend you follow the CDC guidelines for vaccinating your children". Did you ask?
