What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Rhode Island

Hey guys/gals,

It seems every parent in my son's middle school reveived the same notice. "State law 12.1.1 requires that all students in grades 6-8 have a yearly scoliosis screening by a school nurse-teacher or your physician. Only 8th grade students are screened at middle school. All 7th grade students are screened by their private physician as part of their state mandated 7th grade physical.

My question is, is this a threat of criminal prosection? I am just wondering if this could become a criminal matter. I did a brief search for 12.1.1 and cannot find anything about state mandated physicals. Can anyone clear this up for me? Thanks, Dave
