I purchased a house the same week i got married (but before we got married). My Spouse contributed to the down payment and some misc repairs over the 2 years we have been married.
I was the only one to make house payments over the 2 years over our marriage and the house is in my name.

Is this home considered joint property? (in VA)

The equity is what you'll split.

Doesn't matter who paid what, who mowed the lawn, etc.

So it doesn't matter that the house was purchased before the marriage?
I didn't say that. I said, what you will split in a divorce is the equity.

Also is this the same for dc? (we have lived in both).
I don't know, and I'm not going to google every state or district or protectorate.

You divorce where you live. Not where you used to live.
