What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California
I cant find where I should post. I am a young first time homeowner and would be so appreciative if any lawyers can give me help or advice.
I recently purchased a home and it wasn't disclosed that there was a Comcast hub inside my yard. This allows them to boom inside my yard when power goes out . Im not sure what rights i have about this.

Nore annoyingly they set up a generator when power goes out right outside my yard. They also chain it to my fence. Are they allowed to chain stuff to my fence?

Its not like we live in the city. I live in a rural area and this is a huge invasion to my property.

Can I just go remove it from my property?
Thank You

It's entirely possible that Comcast has an easement for the hub inside your yard, and which allows them to enter your yard to maintain their property when needed.

As for the generator, it kind of goes along with the repair process. As far as chaining it to your fence, not sure about that. Have you contacted the local Comcast offices and asked them to not chain the generator to your fence?

You do realize that the services Comcast provides don't just magically appear out of thin air right? There are systems to maintain.

thanks for reply

@sandyclaus The easement issue is what I am looking into. I have tried calling and working on hearing from someone from their office. To my suprise someone from corperate actually called and was very helpful and going to send someone out to see what they can do. I really appreciate hearing your feedback.

I am looking forward to hearing more about chaining their property to my fence and also specifics with noise ordinances with or without easements.

@jiggy78 I totally thought all utilities magically came out of thin air. While this is my first time posting on a law forum. I post and am a helpful member of many forums from filmmaking tech advice to auto mechanic repair sites to gardening forums and it never suits anyone to waste time with counter productive douche baggy posts.

My situation is this; I am a first time homebuyer. I live in the Sierras. Our power goes out, multiple times throughout the winter, every year sometimes for 3-5 days at a time. the power went out yesterday and I came home last night to the rude awakining that everytime the power goes out I will have a generator blasting 20 feet from my house eventhough I have 1.5 acres. If your from the city you just think noise blends in. Well I live in a very rural area and this will be the only thing I hear for those days that the power is out. not to mention it is ugly as ****, and the careless employees put their power cables and extension chords all over my rosemary and chained their noises loud equipment to my place. I almost grabbed my concrete saw and cut through the chain (no bolt cutters at my house) and this was the very first time I had heard or learned anything about this situation. 5 months after buying house and right before winter. Even if I wasn't a comcast customer, which I am, this would be here.

Thanks for your help and any more info is greatly appreciated.

So you bought a house with a giant "ugly a**" generater sitting 20 feet away from it and didn't bother to find out what it was there for and who owned it?

When you buy property it is your responsibility to check for easements.

You may be able to very nicely ask Comcast to be more thoughful when they have to come to the site.

@jiggy

If your intentions are to antagonize please find another place to do it.

I did not buy a house with a huge generator . Perhaps I didn't write clearly enough. WHen the power goes out Comcast comes n sets up a temporary generator n leaves chords n chains it to my fence. Then they come and take it down.

I did look into easements n had a property line surveyor come out before buying, problem is as a first time homebuyer I didn't realize that that with bank owned properties they don't have to disclose anything and this easement to my knowledge is not on record.

There are a lot of things that first time home buyers don't realize when buying a house n trying to keep track of it is very difficult , especially when you have a renovation loan on top of it like me. I have been here long enough to build a two story addition n this is the first time our power has gone out.

I wish that I could of had a pro like you jiggy to guide me through making the best decisions possible but I did the best i could and I'm not looking to rewind time I'm looking for answers to my current situation.
