I live in a 10 unit apartment building in Cincinnati, OH.
The building is broken up into two sides. Five units on one side of the building and 5 units on the other side. The basement and laundry room seprate the apartments in the middle. There is an entrance on each side of the building for each five groups of apartments.

There was a tenant that lived on the other side of the building that was evicted. She moved out and left a lot of items in the apartment. Upon setting out the items she left, bed bugs where found on her mattress. She never told anyone she had bed bugs. Before she left, she gave her couches to the tenant across the hallway from her. When he found out the furniture had bed bugs he threw out the furniture and brought bed bug spray. I have been to his apartment and I now have bed bugs but I live on the other side of the building.

My landlord has told me I need to pay for at least half the cost to exterminate my apartment.

Who is legally responsible for paying for the apartment to be exterminated? What does Ohio law say concerning this matter?

My landlord told me I could have brought them in from someplace else and it is not his responsible to exterminate for bed bugs under Ohio Laws.

ST its up to you to verfiy if what the LL told you is true or not , your state govt web page links for landlord and tenant and state atty general consumer links for LL/T are first places to start, if your not able to determine one way or another a answer once you research them, then on Tues call your city / county govt center either zoning, health dept, or building inspections ought to be able to give you the information you seek, If you learn what your LL told you is not true then send to your LL a letter via certified mail with your complaint about the pest and include in it the state statute , local ord number or copy of what you found supporting your complaint about the pest and give the LL in the letter 7 to 10 days to arrange for extermination, If LL still refuses then call city/ county inspections /health dept and let them know you have complained in writting to LL about the pest giving LL a time frame to address the complaint and nothing has been done and ask if they can assist you.

Before getting into apartment only, you need to take agreement that specifies the duration and payment for that duration. Hope it protects you from the disputes. Now a days, we can't trust the people.

I'm sorry, but I did not bring up that post. I don't go back and reread things just to give my responses.
It was on the board already when I responded. And if I wanted to necropost, I would do it and hold up to it, but in this case, your guess is good as mine.

And I responded after someone else did and I did not pay attention to dates. My guess is someone deleted that post before mine, (no names given, but read first who commented and below), to give the impression that I did the posting.
