My friend was married to a Domincan man in Puerto Rico but her husband is filing for divorce in Hartford, CT and is acting like he does not know where she is. He knows exactly where she is but since he committed adultery and was seeking citizenship it seems he is trying to hide. I am helping her out because her english is limited and the majority of the sites and forums are in that language. I found the case number for her on the CT court website. What can she do to show that he is committing fraud and to notify the court that he is giving them the wrong address so she won't be able to respond. Thank you.

She can contact the court directly and request to be served copies of everything and participate in the divorce. In other words, she needs to file a motion with the court with her proper address and that she wants to be served copies of everything so that she can respond.

How long has the petitioner lived in CT?
Does the respondent live in CT?

I ask because IF the husband has not established residency in CT prior to filing and the wife is still in PR, she may be wise to have the case dismissed for lack of jurisdiction (rather then answering) and refile in PR where I'd imagine the court process would be more manageable for her.
