What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Oklahoma
My Ex received a large check from the Independant Foreclosure Review. This check was for our house that we bought while married. We have since been Divorced for 3 years. She took her car and all of the credit cards in her name and filed for Bankruptcy on her own. I kept my individual debt, and the house in the Divorce.
The house payments fell delinquent at about the 6 month point and by the end of the year after trying many options I was in Foreclosure. Apparently my lender was being shady hence the IFR settlement Check. I never had my Ex's name removed from anything so the Check is in Both our names. She contacted me recently and told me that she has the check and wants me to "help" her pay back the Bankruptcy. The check was mailed to her residence because of the last known address, I have moved twice since then. She's basicly holding my half ransom..
I did some research, the check cannot be cashed/Deposited without both of our signatures, nor will it be re-issued (unless one of us is deceased). The check will VOID in 90 days.
What can I do to get my fair share? What kind of lawyer specializes in these issues? Considering the time issue, what is the quickest way to go about this if she will not agree to split it?

As was stated on the other forum, if she won't willingly give up the share of the check that belongs to you, you'll have to sue her.
