Yeah, it is not good. We have a lot of black on black crime and his public school proposal does nothing to alleviate the situation. It kind of makes it worse. I feel for those teacher and those kids.

Had a cop testily on my behalf (traffic stuff with punk kids). I didnt mind so much. The kids were guilty as sin.
Then why would he have to lie?

If he actually made something up that he knew to be false, then he not only violated his oath and most any moral or ethical code, but he also broke the law ... assuming he made those statements under oath or in an official report.

I won the case. Who cares? A serious injury took place in the accident and I was found not guilty of the infraction for which I was cited. Thus, most likely, releasing my insurance company and myself from any liabilities. God bless that liein cop. Ethics or no. If he had held back the truth, as he stated it in court, would he not be guilty as well? He did not offer it freely the first time he was questioned but volunteered it the second. Lieing or concealing, take your pick. This traffic trial was the longest in state history. It was something to behold.

Perhaps it took a while for you to hit on the proper question phrased the correct way. It is his job to tell the truth, not adlib the info you are seeking.

I had thought of that, in my recollection of the first questioning and the second, the first would have been more likely to illicit the correct response. So I surmised that he had misrepresented, or left out, the facts on purpose. Perhaps after watching the whole thing unfold he had a change of heart. I think at the scene he truly believed I was at fault and testified as such. The second time he testified that he had taken one of the occupants of the other car aside and that what I had stated in court was true. I never took my eyes off him at the scene. I did see him interview 2 of the occupants but he did not pull one off to the side where their conversation would be private, i.e. where the occupant would rat on his friends. He crafted his testimony very carefully so it would be very difficult if not impossible to claim he was being dishonest either time. I was impressed.

If he lied, shame on him - and he doesn't deserve to be in law enforcement. The WHY simply doesn't matter. The entire system is corrupted when that happens, no matter the motivation. Justifying the lie this time might benefit you ... next time, it might cause you great harm. One lie almost invariably leads to justification for the next. This is how the system becomes corrupted, or at least perceived as such.

If it was not a lie, but a an articulation of the facts as best he could recall, great. If a knowing and intentional falsehood, then the guy should enter politics - he has smeared the badge.

I was going to resurrect this thread to apologize to my county LEOs. After an understandable detainment this weekend, they gave me a chance to immediately correct my behavior so they wouldn’t arrest me. Thank you XXX County.

Then, I get here, and see your statements, Shenanigans. And, it irks me. I am bound by the law and support our cops trying to implement it. The wheels of justice, etc.

My hope is the cop finally gave a truthful answer you were looking for. Otherwise, I hope karma bites you and all involved in the arse.

If you are from Chicago, it would be XXXX county. At one time they had the worst reputation one could have. Their treatment of detainees would make GW Bush proud. It was common to abuse the rights of the citizens. Hopefully they have cleaned up their act.

Not yet.
Of course I’m from XXXX We have city problems (Jesse Jr.) to state (Blago).

Different corruption, but as long as you “know how to play the game..” you’re (we, I dare say; something about a blind driver on the Stevenson?) good.

I play the game well, because I was raised here. I just spend my dollars in Illinois’ Favorite State Park right now. Cheaper than 9.75%.
