I would not buy off it Ebay. It has no warranty. You cannot guarantee the source.

I saw the oil pump on ebay. I traced it back to the seller and checked there. Looks like it might work but I think they made the assumption the 6L hybrid engine is the same as the 6L engine in the Suburban. It's definitely worth looking into further though.

Thanks for your time spent looking into my issue.

especially since the remanufactured units I have been finding are in the $500-$700 range. Why would they offer a new pump for 1/10 what others are getting for a reman unit?

BL, I'm surprised the first post went through. It was a classic case of writing down your thoughts, but then I should have just deleted them. Better late than never. Truthfully I read everyone's posts again after I posted it and realized I over-reacted. Y'all gave me some good information.

I agree with the last post. Since I fully intend to sell the vehicle as soon as they put it back together and get it running, a used oil pump is going to work just fine.

This whole situation has left me a little rough around the edges.

I see you posted over there.

wow, don't know where the store I looked up previously came up with the prices but after reading that thread, I checked at the store named and another company and both had a much better price just north of $100

and both companies had one available in a local (to me) store.

the pistons comment:

is was merely a statement of frustration. Oil pumps used to be included with a new engine. It seems more and more "standard" parts are now no longer included. The poster was just making a joke about: what's next? you have to supply pistons separately next?

The knowledgeable resources at batauto.com along with myself have come to the realization that the V8 LFA 6L engine in the 2008 Tahoe Hybrid had a poorly designed component (oil pump). A tech bulletin recommends changing out the OEM part with an aftermarket part. If there are no OEM parts and no aftermarket parts, then I'm SOL and stuck with a POS.

Still incredibly hard to believe that a 2008 vehicle has no $100 replacement part available. Talk about being screwed by Government Motors....

Huh? I can pick one up down the street and send it to you but you were given a variety of sources where they are readily available.

I agree though with the advice of contacting the higher ups ( regional manager - up ) to be sure any replacement pump does not void the new engine warranty .

There was also a TBS that needs to be looked into , and the replacement on the manufacture.

If you would mosey over to batauto.com you would find that what is down the street is not probably compatible with the V8 LFA hybrid engine. If your source down the street in fact has the correct one in stock, I will gladly send you a finder's fee when the vehicle is reassembled and in running condition. Shoot, I'll even have my wife kiss you.

Send me a private message with the info and I'll look into it. I still have fingers crossed it's as simple as you're saying, but the longer it goes, the more I dig, the more I learn I may have bought the lemon of all lemons. GM changed the oil pump design after only one year. The 2008 hybrids were the test case rats...and the rats are dying.

I had not been back to see the additions to the thread. I'll check to see what I can

You don't know how much all of this help from this forum's members means to me. This has been very frustrating with no happy ending in sight.

Your collective support, ideas, and insight give me hope that this situation can be resolved without selling the Tahoe for scrap metal.

I'm looking into all leads and suggestions.

speaking of suggestions:

can you just toss that engine and put in one that does not have all the problems a 2008 Tahoe 6 litre LFA engine has without it costing an additional fortune?

Evidently the dealership has already bought the LFA engine because the service manager told me about having to order "some special hybrid" engine. I can only assume he meant the LFA model. This was before I started learning about the different models available.
