She's not in contempt until a judge finds her in contempt. Until/unless that occurs, she has simply (and only possibly) violated the court order.
I agree, let the judge decide. I'm 99.9% sure that wifey will get away with it and the judge will blame everything on OP.

She MAY BE in violation of the court order.
You are driving and speeding in your car 10 mph over the posted speed limit. A law enforcement official stops you, and, after some conversation and you batting your big brown cow eyes at him and pulling your skirt up a few inches, he excersizes his discretion and decides not to give you a speeding ticket.

Were you speeding? Was it a violation?

If my four year old goes to town with her crayons all over her bedroom, and I can't get it all off so I decide to repaint the nursery wall, am I renovating or simply repairing the damage?

Unless having to do with a federal law to prevent lead based paint contamination (where a disturbance of the paint is the problem), by definition, that would be a renovation.

Look up the word.

The thing is, what is the PURPOSE of the word? That is the key. Heck, cleaning can be a "renovation". Did the judge intend to prevent the wife from cleaning the home?

The PURPOSE of the word is to prevent exactly what the wife is doing.

I doubt the judge intended to prevent the wife from cleaning the home, as long as her present cleaning efforts do not surpass her cleaning history. We must look to OP to provide the answer to that.

I wouldn't recommend bringing this up in court unless she brings up something trivial. Good luck to you.

Yet, most here think that was not what the judge intended. Such verbiage is to prevent waste and to prevent changes that would result in making the house harder to sell.

Most here would jump all over and condem the OP if it were he who was painting and the wife complaining about it.

There was no indication that the house was to be sold, in fact OP stated they were fighting for the house.
